Tips on Defect reporting

Report Defects immediately after you find them during initial or First pass of testing you will usually find more defects. You should ensure that you log defects immediately as and when defects are found. General tendency of many testers would be to log Sev1 or Sev2 defects immediately as they find them. However they tend to delay logging Sev3 or Sev4 defects and think they can log these defects at later point of time due to time constraints Scenario:- I have to execute 10 more test cases planned for the day, Let me execute other test cases as I am running late to provide the status my Test Lead or Manager and if time permits I will log the defect or log the defect tomorrow.

If testers postpone logging of defects, they may forget some of the key defect information or they may never log some of the defects as they have forgotten.
